Binga Wall Baskets
These Binga baskets come from the remote Binga region of Zimbabwe, where BaTonga artisans carry on a weaving tradition passed through generations. Each basket is crafted from locally gathered ilala palm, a natural fiber that softens and shifts in tone as it dries, giving every piece its own quiet character.
Woven slowly by hand in sweeping spirals and geometric patterns, Binga baskets were originally used for winnowing grain. Today, they are valued as functional art. Lightweight, refined, and full of the subtle irregularities that reflect the hands that made them.
When displayed on a wall, grouped or alone, they bring texture and rhythm to a room. Their gentle colors and organic forms sit easily in contemporary spaces, making them versatile accents for collectors and designers who appreciate honest, handmade objects.
